Upholstery Cleaning Bradford on Avon
Our 8-Stage Professional Upholstery Cleaning Process
Your fabric furnishings are probably one of the most heavily used pieces of furniture in your home, and as such, they can quickly show signs of dirt and soil.
Having your fabric furnishings professionally cleaned will not only restore them to their former glory, but will also extend their life.
Our technicians are properly trained and equipped to identify the fabrics in question and select the best cleaning method for them.
This prevents the fabrics from being damaged during the cleaning process, which is often the case with a do-it-yourself clean.
There are numerous fabrics used in upholstery, and correctly identifying them is one of the most important steps in the process.
As with our carpet cleaning service, we take a methodical approach, beginning with identifying the fabric and vacuuming it thoroughly before moving on to the wet or dry cleaning system, ensuring excellent results every time.
1/ Inspection /Survey
With upholstery, there are more types of fibre and fabric to identify, and more things that can go wrong if not identified correctly.
We will examine the upholstery’s structure and ask questions about its history.
2/ Crush and croc test
These are further tests to help choose the best cleaning solution and cleaning method for your upholstery to ensure no damage is caused.
During this process we will also be testing for dye bleed to ensure there is no colour run during the clean.
3/ Dry soil extraction
We thoroughly vacuum the upholstery with our commercial dual motor upright hoover.
Dry soiling makes about 80-85% of dirt, therefore eliminating it prevents particles from sticking to the fibres and wicking back.
4. Prespray & Agitation
We rub the prespray into the fibres of the furniture with a cloth, mitt or drill brush to release any tenacious grime.
Certain products may not be agitated due to weak fibres that could be harmed, this will be assessed during the inspection.
5. Extraction
Spray extraction provides the most thorough cleaning for your upholstery (when performed by skilled specialists).
Using our top-of-the-line extraction machine and upholstery hand tools, we apply a rinse to the upholstery and draw it back out.
6. Spot Treatment
After we have finished with the spray extraction, we will go over your upholstery one more time to look for any spots or stains that need to be treated more thoroughly.
We will apply a proper stain treatment, making every effort to utilise environmentally friendly chemicals whenever possible.
7. Pile Brush
After the cleaning process is complete, it’s critical to go through the furniture with a special brush to reposition the pile.
This is often forgotten, but if it isn’t done, it can lead to pile deterioration and, in certain cases, the upholstery appearing different in different sections.
8. Stain Protection
This is the stage where we will apply our stain protector if you have chosen it.
Stain guards will aid in the removal of subsequent spills or dirt, but they are not impenetrable!
Why get your soft furnishings cleaned?
Your soft furnishings are a breeding ground for bacteria, and pathogens and dirt can accumulate to the point where they pose a health risk.
Every time someone sits in a sofa or chair, these organisms are released into the environment.
There are numerous nooks and crannies in your soft furnishings, including down the side of the arm, under the cushions, and many more.
These are all collecting grounds for crumbs, dirt, dust, and occasionally pocket change J
Lift up your cushion and take a quick look underneath; you might be surprised at what you find.
It’s all a breeding ground for germs and dust mittes, which can have serious consequences for your and your family’s health if left unchecked.
Saves you money and keeps it comfortable
There is a good chance that you have spent a lot of money on your sofa and chairs, so you want them to last a long time.
They will also be more comfortable if they are cleaned often.
If left they could start to show signs of wear.
Specific areas, such as the arms and headrest, where grease, dirt and sweat build up can start to break down the fibres and create patches or even holes over time.
Aesthetics
For example, when we have friends or neighbours over, we want our home to look its best.
Having your soft furnishings cleaned by a professional will most likely make your visitors want to come back again.
Why use a professional?
It’s in the word “professional”; we have the necessary training, knowledge, and experience, as well as top-of-the-line equipment and the most up-to-date cleaning solutions, to get the job done RIGHT.
Soft furnishings contain a wide range of fabrics and fibres (far more than carpets), and using the incorrect cleaning method or solution could result in irreversible damage.
Every step of our process has been designed to produce the best results possible while minimising the risk of causing damage to the soft furnishings.
They are designed with the expectation that they will require cleaning.
If you look on the label of most sofas and chairs and look at the care instructions it will say “clean them regularly” and “use a professional”
Why would you not do something that the manufacturer recommends?
Would you have a go at plastering your house, or installing a new boiler?
I’m guessing not. You would choose a professional, do the same with your upholstery.
